THE GARDEN

A Reflection on Humanity’s Dependence on the Natural World.
A contemplation on humankind’s reliance on the natural world for food, water, and shelter—our essential needs.
Inspired by plant anatomy, the sinuous walls resemble the petals of flowers or the fleshy layers of an onion, which at a certain point burst into life. Visitors are guided through the garden, enclosed within these sculptural walls, emphasizing the intrinsic dependence of humans on plants.
Water, an essential element, is found at the heart of the garden, where shade and shelter are provided by trees and the surrounding walls. This is truly a story told in layers—hence its name—with a secondary narrative: the onion-like walls seem to flow along the slope, evoking the presence of Mount Etna, whose lava flows have enriched the soil with fertility.
In this ornamental garden, edible plants and fruits are also integrated, bridging aesthetics with sustenance.
