Designing a garden in this part of Sicily is a dream.
At the foot of the volcano, overlooking the sea, lies a magical land where everything flourishes, where inspiration is in the air, where ancient trees and pure rock define the landscape. And the garden, in turn, shapes the gardener who inhabits it—who caresses it, breathes it in, and harvests its exotic fruits. Home Ground, Terra di Casa, is a garden that both gives form to and takes form from the plants within it. A central checkerboard parterre sets the rules of a new relationship with nature, while the transformative presence of water introduces variation. Simply cut basalt stone forms the body of a house, offering shelter and welcome.
Then, the plants: tropical fruits representing the future, jasmine and pelargonium hedges symbolizing tradition. Cycas, Plumeria, Brachychiton, Hedychium, Cestrum, Cereus, Erythrina—pure seduction. This garden creates a natural environment using the elements already present, discarding nothing, working only through deconstruction and reassembly. The project finds its natural place between the saia and the tower, where Phoenix dactylifera and Tamarix mark the natural boundary of a new garden.
